James May has been reassembling again.

Last week he did a record player, from these bits.

Kinja'd!!!

During the course of his lengthy reconstruction James expounded on his Theory of Electricity.

He believes that it doesn’t exist. Electric things only work because we believe that they should.

It might sound eccentric, but I’m tempted to go along with him. How else do you explain how connecting an electric motor up to wires that don’t contain anything visible makes it turn?

A counterpoint: Show an electrical device to someone who has no idea what it is, and therefore no inclination to believe that it will do anything in particular, and it still works.

Also the fact that thousands of scientists can tell you how it works, but what the fuck do they know?

Electricity, fire, and light are all “magic” to me. I might know how to summon, manipulate, and harness them to my advantage, but that’s it. I mean, matter is one thing, but stuff like photons, electrons, and energy are abstract concepts that are hard for me to visualize. I kinda just nod my head and go along with it, TBH.
